The Child Welfare Fund was started in 1917 by a group of teachers with a budget of $100. The goal of the fund is to provide services to help students be successful in school and to boost self-esteem. The fund pays for shoes, food, hair cuts, backpacks, clothes, medications not covered by insurance and dental care at Dr. Earl Crane Dental Center that is run by the Assistance League. All donations are used for SBCUSD students and their families.  Any district employee can be a member of the Child Welfare Fund board.
