Your gift to the Making Hope Happen Foundation will help remove financial barriers from the road to success for young adults in our community. Scholarships allow deserving young people to pursue the college education or technical training they’ll need for a quality career.
All of our scholars are supported by a mentor for two years. Since most San Bernardino scholarship recipients will be the first young people in their families to go to college, they’ll truly benefit from the guidance and encouragement of a knowledgeable friend to help them navigate their higher education journey. Your generous gift eliminates financial barriers and fills a social capital gap for disadvantaged students.
Now more than ever, students in San Bernardino need to know we’re in their corner. Please consider showing your support by giving what you can today.
This endowment is made possible through a generous donation from local attorney and philanthropist, Bill Lemann, who helped us to create the Robert L. Harbison Scholarship Endowment in memory of Bill’s mother, Mary Lemann, and his godmother, Nora Dowd.
This endowment is made possible through the
generous support of the Jack Brown Foundation, in memory of the longtime president of Stater Bros. Scholarships are awarded to graduates of San Bernardino High School, Mr. Brown’s alma mater.
Created in memory of Jerry &
Arlene Lewis, the Lewis Young Leaders of a United America Scholarship is for graduates of San Bernardino High School who are working towards careers in public service. This endowed fund will
provide at least one scholarship each year in perpetuity.
Founded in memory of longtime San Bernardino City Unified School Board trustee and community legend, Dr. Margaret B. Hill, this scholarship will
enable graduating seniors from San Andreas Continuation High School, where Dr. Hill was a longtime principal, to realize their dream of attending college.
This scholarship, funded by Melanie McGrath, SBCUSD principal and longtime biliteracy advocate, is for students who graduate with a Seal of Biliteracy.
Ross was a career educator. Positively impacting the lives of children began at an early age for Ross. As a child himself, Ross was influenced by his mother who ran a group home for at-risk children who were removed from their families. Throughout his life, Ross was always connected to education from coaching at the collegiate level, to finding his passion teaching middle school students, to making a difference as a middle school vice principal, to coordinating many special education services throughout San Bernardino City Unified School District. Ross always had a special heart for special education and loved his educational career. This scholarship continues Ross’s passion by supporting individuals pursuing education for a career in special education or a person with an Individualized Education Plan and/or identified as a Special Education student.
This scholarship in memory of Ross Mack, a Special Education teacher who taught at San Bernardino City Unified for many years, provides financial support to those with an Individualized Education Plan and/or identified as Special Education students.
